Bombay Joes

If you're in Coventry and craving authentic Indian cuisine with a modern twist, Bombay Joes on 277 Walsgrave Rd is one of those local gems you shouldn’t miss. Tucked away in the heart of the CV2 area, this place has quickly become a go-to spot for both locals and visitors looking for bold flavors, late-night eats, and a chill, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re swinging by for a solo dinner or ordering in after a long day, Bombay Joes delivers - literally and figuratively.

Let’s start with the food, because let’s face it, that’s what you’re here for. The Balti Chilli is an absolute flavor bomb - rich, fiery, and full of character. If you're into more classic favorites, the Tandoori Chicken is a must-try: juicy, chargrilled to perfection, and served sizzling hot. The Butter Chicken leans into that creamy, mildly spiced comfort food territory, making it a crowd favorite every single time.

Now, if you’re a biryani fan, Bombay Joes’ Lamb Biryani is next level - tender chunks of lamb nestled in fragrant rice, spiced just right. It’s the kind of dish that fills the table with aroma before it even arrives. For those who like things bold and punchy, the Jalfrezi is a great option - vibrant, colorful, and packed with stir-fried peppers.

Vegetarians and fusion food lovers aren’t left out either. The Spring Rolls offer a satisfying crunch with flavorful filling, while the Coconut Supreme Calzone is this delightfully unexpected mix of Indian and Italian-sweet, nutty, and creamy all at once. The Sultani Karahi Lamb, with its regal name and regal flavor profile, rounds out the meat-heavy highlights.

Drinks and desserts also hold their own. You can grab a Mango Lassi to cool down the heat or go for a Cortado if you're winding down with something warm. And yes, the desserts are seriously underrated here. Don’t skip them. They’re not just an afterthought-they’re a highlight.

A few things set Bombay Joes apart from the crowd. First, it’s halal-friendly, which is great if that's a priority for you. Also, the place offers free water refills (a rare but much-appreciated touch) and serves coffee - ideal for casual chats or quick post-meal pick-me-ups. You’ve got the full flexibility of dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options, making it super easy to enjoy their food your way.

Another underrated detail? Bombay Joes is wheelchair accessible, both at the entrance and seating areas. It’s a little thing that makes a big difference, especially for those who need that extra bit of consideration.

While dinner is when the place tends to get busy - thanks to the late-night food offerings - it’s also a solid choice for solo dining. No fuss, no frills, just good food and good vibes. You walk in, get your fill, and leave happy.

And for those comparing options across Coventry for Indian cuisine, Bombay Joes often edges ahead thanks to its range of flavors, consistency in quality, and its laid-back yet friendly environment. It’s not trying too hard - it just knows what it does well and sticks to it.

Whether you're a seasoned curry lover or just stepping into the world of Indian food, Bombay Joes gives you plenty to explore without overwhelming you. It’s the kind of spot that invites you back again, just to try “one more dish” from the menu you didn’t get to last time.

Nicely decorated restaurant with polite attentive staff. They have a wide range of dishes on offer covering the whole of India’s cuisine. We elected for northern Indian style dishes and we can safely safe they were very traditional in flavour, so we were incredibly satisfied. Each curry dish had a good amount of meat in it too which is worth mentioning (Lamb Balti and a Chicken Vindaloo). The Paneer for starters was a good way to get the juices flowing. All in all a brilliant experience; traditional, authentic flavours and good fair prices!

Having never been before, this was a shot in the dark. First impressions were of a bright stylish restaurant and the greeting was warm and genuine. As we ordered the team were very attentive and the experience started well. Having a few unusual choices on the menu was all the incentive we need to try something new. All I can say is wow. Everything was prompt, full of flavour and went down a treat. It was great to feel fully satisfied with a meal without feeling bloated. This was a delight. A little treasure - give it a go. Great prices too. I will definitely be dropping in if I'm ever in the area again.
